Judge Steven Boyce on Thursday declined a motion to allow prosecutors to ask former co-workers of Tammy Daybell about statements regarding life insurance and Chad Daybell allegedly telling his wife she was a zombie. Kaaiakamanu said several of the chats show Tammy Daybell and their children knew about the light and dark concept. In a message sent by either Chad Daybell or his wife Tammy Daybell in a Google chat with their children, Vincent Kaaiakamanu, with the Madison County Sheriff's Office, said the couple was teaching a class at church and rated one of their 12-year-old students as "4.2 dark." A characteristic facet of James Whale’s directorial work was his droll and often eccentric sense of humour. This was not allowed much room to come to the fore in Frankenstein but started to appear here and reached its full blossoming in The Invisible Man (1933) and Bride of Frankenstein. Most of these Old Dark House films trod a comfortable line between comedy and thrills but James Whale makes The Old Dark House distinctly and uniquely his own.

Philip Waverton, his wife Margaret and their friend Roger Penderel are lost while driving at night in a heavy storm. They come upon an old house in the Welsh countryside where they receive shelter from Horace Femm and his sister Rebecca. He also warns them that their mute butler Morgan is a dangerous, heavy drinker. As Rebecca escorts Margaret to a bedroom to change clothes, she tells her about the Femm family, which Rebecca says was sinful and godless. Rebecca reveals that her 102-year-old father, Sir Roderick Femm, still lives in the house. It was placed at number 71 on a Time Out poll of the best horror films.

Tom stumbles upon the fact that the killer is a woman, and he accuses Morgana, but Cecily confesses, explaining that she wanted the entire family estate. Cecily runs from the house, and Tom discovers that she has placed time bombs in all of the clocks in the house. Racing against time, he frantically defuses each of the bombs. With moments to spare, he hurls the last bomb out of the window, and it explodes at Cecily's feet. In 1957, Universal Studios lost the rights to the original story,[5] and a remake was released in 1963, directed by William Castle and co-produced with Hammer Film Productions.

The visitors are an uninteresting bunch in comparison, excepting for Charles Laughton who offers a marvellously crass and boisterous presence that succeeds in stealing the film. The actor playing the aging family head – listed as John Dudgeon – was actually a woman Elspeth Dudgeon. This film was not included in the "Shock Theatre" package with the other Universal horror films.

Boyce ruled Thursday that prosecutors could not introduce two of the three statements. BOISE — A family chat discussed during Chad Daybell's murder trial Thursday showed that he talked about assigning "light" and "dark" ratings on multiple people among members of his family. Universal had purchased Benighted (1927), a novel by the renowned British writer and broadcaster J.B. Priestley, who is generally best known for the play An Inspector Calls (1947) – see the film version An Inspector Calls (1954). The project was handed to the perpetually eccentric British director James Whale, who had just come from the groundbreaking success of Frankenstein (1931). Boyce did rule one statement requested by the prosecutors can be admitted — a co-worker who said Tammy Daybell said two days before her death that "this is the best I have ever felt in my life."

Prior pointed out during his cross-examination that Tammy Daybell said multiple times she had seen a paintball gun, and searched images of a paintball gun with officers that night. He showed a photo of a paintball gun that looked very different to the one found in Cox's house and prosecutors showed one that looked similar. After jurors were released Wednesday, attorneys argued about three statements from witnesses that prosecutors wanted to be brought into the trial.

Daybell assigned many 'light' or 'dark' ratings and discussed them with family, officer testified

For many years, the original version was considered a lost film and gained a tremendous reputation as one of the pre-eminent gothic horror films. Director Curtis Harrington, a friend of Whale, helped to rediscover The Old Dark House, having repeatedly asked Universal Studios to locate the film negative. Harrington eventually discovered a print of the film in the vaults of Universal in 1968.[7] He persuaded the George Eastman House film archive to finance a new duplicate negative of the poorly kept first reel,[11] and restore the rest of the film. In the late 1920 and throughout the 1930s, there flourished a sub-genre of horror films that one has dubbed the Old Dark House thriller.

The car crashes in a raging storm, and Tom is invited to stay at the house by members of Casper's family, including his nieces, the demure young Cecily and the seductive Morgana, and his Uncle Potiphar, who has been building an ark in anticipation of another great flood. Each of the relatives is required to return to the dilapidated mansion before midnight each evening or forfeit his share of the family fortune. First Agatha Femm, Casper's mother, is discovered with her knitting needles stuck in her throat. Casper's twin brother, Jasper, is the next victim, followed by Roderick, the head of the family.

Gladys says her relationship with William is platonic, and suggests she should live with Roger instead. They go back to the house, where they wake up William and tell him about their new romance. Meanwhile, Philip and Margaret go into the room where he heard the voice; they find Roderick Femm there.
